Taryn Stefanski nominated for Rhodes Scholarship

Michigan State University has nominated eight undergraduate students and one alumna for nationally competitive graduate school scholarships: the Marshall Scholarship, the Mitchell Scholarship and the Rhodes Scholarship and LHQS member Taryn Stefanski is one of those nominated for the Rhodes! Tayrn is an Honors College senior majoring in physics in Lyman Briggs College. She is working on how to improve coherence in superconducting circuit based qubits. She is also part of a team working to develop a new qubit based on the motion of a single electron trapped in vacuum above the surface of liquid helium.

The Rhodes Trust, the oldest of the major international competitive award foundations, provides 32 of the most outstanding undergraduates in the country an opportunity to study at the University of Oxford in England.
